Born at South Sea Plymouth, CoE. Enlisted 24 September 1914 age 22, school teacher. Nok mother, Mrs E. Bartlett, Buckinghamshire. Embarked at Adelaide 18 November 1915 per A2 Geelong. Wounded at Gallipoli by an explosive bullet 2 May 1915. RTA per A20 Hororata 29 July 1915 and discharged 12 January 1916. Address after return to Australia was 2 Otway St, Swanbourne. Service medals: 1914-1915 Star, BWM and VM.
