Bell, George Hanson

Born at Albert Park Victoria, Enlisted 13 September 1914 age 24, labourer. Nok father, George Bell of Yorkrakine, WA. Embarked at Melbourne 22 December 1914 per A40 Ceramic. Wounded in the throat at Gallipoli 9 May 1915 and eventually rejoined his unit in France and was again wounded.. RTA per Port Sydney September 1919. At times he stayed with his sister, Mary Hansen Inglis (nee Bell), wife of James Forrest Inglis (see Inglis) at 9 Wentworth St, Cottesloe. During the Second World War he served with the Army on Rottnest Island, twenty kilometres west of Fremantle. His WW1 file amalgamated with WW2 file (*W64769). Service medals: 1914-1915 Star, BWM and VM plus WW2 War Medal 1939-45 and Australian Service Medal 1939-45.
