Born at Fremantle in 1889, CoE. Enlisted 14 August 1914 age 25, Customs official. Nok Alice Bellamy of Glyde St, Cottesloe Beach. Embarked at Fremantle 2 November 1914 per A11 Ascanius. (service record has 26 October). Wounded at Gallipoli 25 April 1915 and evacuated to the Military Hospital at Malta. Served in France in 1916-17 and RTA per Kaisir-a-Hind September 1918 and discharged 13 January 1919. Note: Some of the German ships captured in war were converted to troop carriers while retaining the original names. Service medals: 1914-1915 Star, BWM and VM.
