Born Fitzroy Victoria, CoE. Enlisted 28 December 1915 age 28, commercial traveller. Nok first his parents, Alexander and Jane Bertrand of Keane St. and later Monument St, Cottesloe Beach then his wife, Grace Ethel Bertram at various addresses including Surrey England, Leederville and Nicholson Rd, Subiaco in 1920. Embarked at Fremantle 6 June 1915 per A29 Suevic. He was in France in November 1916. He was killed in action in France 2 April 1917 and buried at Cemetery extension, Ploegsteert Wood 2 miles SSW of Messines. Service medals: BWM and VM.
