Born at Fremantle. Presbyterian. Enlisted at Perth 17 May 1916 age 18, clerk. Nok father, Edward Alexander Black, Keane St, Cottesloe. Embarked at Fremantle 30 October 1916 per A16 Port Melbourne. Served in France and wounded in action 12 October 1917. RTA per Somali 1 June 1919. Service medals: BWM and VM.
