Born at Queenscliff Victoria, Presbyterian. Enlisted on 8 September 1915 age 23, clerk. Nok father, Gordon Campbell Curlewis who had a farm at Brookton and a residence at Lillian St, Cottesloe. Embarked Melbourne 22 December 1914 A40 Ceramic. Wounded at Gallipoli on 2 May 1915 and a second time on 7 August 1915. Reported ill in October and RTA per RTA A54 Runic with suspected tuberculosis November 1915. The file suggests following the deaths of three brothers at Gallipoli he was suffering severe mental stress and the suspected tuberculosis diagnosis may be an honourable pretext to get him out of the war zone. Service Medals 1914-15 Star, BWM, and VM. On 12 May 1967, Gordon C. Curlewis resided at Broome St, Cottesloe.
