Born at Dublin Ireland, RC. Enlisted 3 September 1914 age 39, labourer. Nok wife, Mrs J. Devine Newcastle St, Perth. Later address Cottesloe Beach – no details. James previously served with the Yorkshire Regiment and Royal Australian Artillery. Embarked at Fremantle 2 November 1914 per A7 Medic. In Egypt he suffered paralysis and was hospitalised. RTA August 1916 and discharged. His post war address was Brighton St and Lillian St, Cottesloe Beach. He received a pension of 60 shillings per fortnight. Service medals:1914-1915 Star, BWM and VM.
