Born at Clifton Hill Victoria, Presbyterian. Enlisted 12 July 1915 age 22, produce merchant. Nok father, Peter Fernie of Amherst Rd, West Midland. Embarked at Adelaide 18 November 1915 per A2 Geelong. Served in France 1916-1918. Transferred to 53rd Battalion 15 March 1916. Wounded in France 21 September 1918, wounds not specified. RTA in June 1919 and discharged 25 September 1919. Service medals: 1914-1915 Star, BWM and VM. Cottesloe and district Honour Rolls.
