Geddes, Alfred Charles

Born at Rutherglen, Lanark Scotland, Presbyterian. Enlisted Perth 18 October 1915 age 18, telephone mechanic. Nok mother, Elizabeth Elena Geddes of Glyde St, Cottesloe Beach. His father died in Scotland. Embarked at Sydney 9 November 1916 per RMS Mooltan. Served in the Middle East and in France where on 11 February 1917 he was killed in action. Buried at the Bazentin-le-Petit Military Cemetery, France, Plot 1 Row G, Grave 4. Alfred’s effects arrived from Europe per A74 Marathon and consisted of a book, bible, kitbag handle, an identity disc, chevron, pipe, cards, photos and letters. Service medals: 914-15 Star, BWM, and VM.
