Born at London, England Congregational. Enlisted 9 June 1916 age 21, carpenter. Nok father, Arthur Hammond of Waverley Palmerston St, Cottesloe Beach. Embarked at Fremantle 30 October 1916 per A16 Port Melbourne. Admitted to hospital following the assault on the Hindenburg Line and did not fully recover. RTA July 1917 suffering from debility and discharged 4 October 1917. Service medals: BWM and VM
