Born at East Greenstead, Sussex UK, CoE. Enlisted 10 October 1915 age 25, steward. Nok mother, Agnes Hartfield, Seven Oaks, Kent. Father deceased. Embarked at Fremantle 17 January 1916 A30 Borda. Served in the Middle East then in France where he suffered shell shock trauma in September 1916 and wounded in the right elbow in April 1917. RTA in May 1918 and admitted to No. 8 AG Hospital Fremantle. Later residing at 14 Wright St, Swanbourne. Service medals: 1914-1915 Star, BWM and VM.
