Healey, Edward Stanley

Born in NSW 7 August 1891, RC. Entered the WA Education Department in 1906 as a monitor at Cue School and the following year he was a student at the Normal School, later the Perth Modern School, and in 1909 a senior monitor at North Perth, Highgate and Cue schools. Studied at Claremont Teachers College 1910-11. College Principal Rooney’s report reads, ‘A good fellow but without serious ambition or intense life. Good and eager student.’ He was appointed to Cottesloe School in 1914 and was there when he enlisted on 1 August 1916. His father, Timothy Healey, lived at 68 Subiaco Rd, Subiaco. Embarked at Fremantle 23 December 1916 per A35 Berrima. Served in France where he was wounded in both legs on 26 September 1917. RTA 17 June 1918 and discharged 1 November 1918 and returned to teaching until his retirement at West Leederville in 1956. Service medals: BWM and VM.
