Served in Egypt 1917-1918. RTA April 1919 per Dorset. Service medals and award: MID and BWM (no reason given for omitting VM from his service record). Citation for his Mentioned in Dispatches in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette No. 113 dated 6 October 1919. London Gazette 3rd supplement No. 31383 dated 5 June 1919. ‘A despatch has been received by the Secretary of State for War from General Sir E. H. H. Allenby, GCB, GCMG, Commander-in-chief, Egyptian Expeditionary Force, submitting the name of the undermentioned, who he considers worthy of special mention for services rendered during the period from the 19 September 1918 to the 31 January 1919.
