Born at Cottesloe Beach, Congregational. Enlisted 20 March 1918 age 18, blacksmith striker. Nok father, George Alfred Markham, Royal St, Kenwick, WA. Embarked at Fremantle 29 October 1918 per Boonah. Ship recalled upon reaching Durban South Africa, and discharged 17 January 1919. Service medals: BMW but not a VM. Cottesloe and district Honour Rolls.
