Born at Coolgardie, WA. Presbyterian. Enlisted 2 March 1916 age 19, motor mechanic. Nok father, Andrew McNeil, The Gables, cnr Victoria Avenue and Bay View Tce, Claremont. Embarked at Melbourne 3 October 1916 per A60 Aeneas. While serving in France he was wounded in action on 27 September 1917 and gassed on 10 February 1918. RTA 23 September 1918 per A54 Runic for family reasons and discharged 2 September 1919. Service medals: BWM and VM.
