Born at Goolwa, Sth Aust. CoE. Enlisted 31 July 1916 age 44, goods porter. Nok wife, Emma Meadowcroft of Swan St, North Fremantle. Embarked at Fremantle 29 December 1916 per A34 Persic. Served in France 1917. RTA January 1919 per Karmala. Service medals: BWM and VM. After the war, Alfred Meadowcroft joined the Railways Department and continued there until 1930 when ill health caused him to retire. He was a member of the Fremantle RSL. When he died on 17 March 1931 his address was Monument St, Mosman Park. An obituary in The West Australian 19 March, gives a detailed list of his family, pall bearers and mourners.
