Born in Aberdeen, Scotland Presbyterian. Enlisted 17 December 1915 age 29, tram motorman. Nok sister, Mrs Bella Leslie originally of 70 Aberdeen St, Perth, but later changed to Napier St, Cottesloe. Embarked at Fremantle 17 April 1916 per A60 Aeneas. Served in France 1916-1917 where he was twice wounded the first by shellshock on 8 August 1916 and second, a wound to the left cheek on 25 September 1917. RTA in January 1918 per Port Darwin. Service medals: BWM and VM.
