* 966 Trooper 10th Light Horse Regiment.

Born at Marlborough, England, CoE.  Enlisted 12 January 1915 age 22, labourer. Nok mother, Mary Penny, Alton Priors, near Pewsey, Wiltshire, England. Father, Mr W Penny, Post Office Victoria Park, WA, later c/o Railway Refreshment Rooms, Wonnerup WA and in 1922 c/o Oceanic Hotel, Cottesloe Beach. Embarked at Fremantle  26 April 1915 per A20 Hororata. Served in Gallipoli. Killed in action  7 August 1915 at Walkers Ridge, Gallipoli Peninsula. Buried at Shrapnel Terrace, Russell’s Top, Grave No. 4 – I 3. Personal effects: hairbrush, spurs, letters. Service medals: 1914-1915 Star, BWM, VM.
