Born Cape Town, South Africa, CoE. Enlisted 8 September 1914 age 27, carpenter. Nok wife Anna Rae and child of Forrest St, Cottesloe. Embarked at Fremantle 14 December 1914 per A55 Kyarra, He appears to have served much of his term of service on board hospital ships between the Middle East, England and Australia. In 1917 he was assigned to the 13th Australian Field Ambulance. In February 1918 he was hospitalised with bronchitis. RTA per A36 Boonah on medical grounds and discharged 11 September 1918. Service medals: 1914-1915 Star, BWM and VM.
