Born at Glamorgan, Wales, CoE. Enlisted 2 March 1915 age 24, mill hand. Nok father, Alfred Rodd, 130 Cordpenwaen Rd, Ponty Pridd, Glamorgan, Wales. Embarked at Fremantle 29 June 1915 per A11 Ascanius. Served in Gallipoli and France. Promoted to Sergeant on 15 September 1917. On 29 September 1917, he had a wound to the head and neck. RTA 29 January 1918 per A63 Karoola. Samuel Rodd was discharged on 29 January 1918 when his address was Cottesloe Beach Service medals: 1914-1915 Star, BMW and VM.
