Born at Featherstone, NZ CoE. Enlisted 13 February 1915 age 28, tailor. Nok wife, Leticia Beatrice Speakman of 91 Richardson St, Boulder. Embarked at Fremantle 26 April 1915 per A20 Hororata. Served in Gallipoli 1915, France 1916-1917 and RTA in July 1917 with rheumatism. Service medals: 1914-1915 Star, BWM and VM. Cottesloe and district Honour Rolls. Post Office Directories for 1920 place Samuel H. Speakman at 2 Railway St, Cottesloe. In 1924 his Victory Medal was sent to an address at Ohura, King Country, New Zealand.
