Born at Beverley WA. CoE. Enlisted 24 January 1916 age 21, mill-hand. Nok sister, A. Slape of Albany Highway, Cannington. Address when he enlisted was c/o Mrs Snow, Boreham St, Cottesloe. Embarked on A9 Shropshire 31 March 1916. Wounded by shell gas poisoning in France in October 1917. RTA December 1918 and discharged in March 1919. While convalescing at Dartford Hospital in England, he met and married Dorothy Laura Alderton, a munitions worker at the Dartford Registrar’s Office on 7 October 1918. Service medals: BWM and VM.
