Davenport, John

Born at Cottesloe Beach on 2 December 1897, CoE. His service record suggests that he enlisted twice. He enlisted in the 11th Battalion in June1916 and embarked at Fremantle 9 November 1916 per A8 Argyllshire. Served in France and in April 1917 was wounded in the face, jaw and hand. He was hospitalised in England. Appears he was wounded a second time in May 1917, RTA July 1917 and discharged at Sydney on 3 March 1918. He re-enlisted two days later, on 5 March 1918 age 20, labourer giving his Nok as Constance Davenport Fairlight St, Cottesloe Beach. At his own request he was discharged medically unfit on 17 June 1918. Service medals: BWM and VM. In 1933 a Mrs S.M.H. Davenport (widow) was at Leichardt, NSW.
