Born at Southampton UK. Methodist. Enlisted 8 February 1916 age 19, farm labourer. Nok father, F.C. Bailey Glenwood Nangeenan, WA. Embarked at Fremantle per A9 Shropshire 31 March 1916. Wounded in action and shell shock in France 6 August 1916 and severe gunshot wound to his arm 11 April 1917. RTA November 1917 per A35 Berrima and hospitalised at the Fremantle General Military Hospital where he was fined six day’s pay for being absent without leave. Discharged 21 June 1918 with a pension of 60 shillings per fortnight and in later years Alex Bailey resided at 61 Cottesloe Ave. Service medals: BWM and VM.
