Born at Fremantle WA, RC. Enlisted 18 October 1915 age 18, optical mechanic. Nok parents, Dr William Payne Birmingham and Isobel Birmingham, 62 Victoria Rd, Fremantle. Embarked at Fremantle 20 May 1916 per A7 Medic. Served in England and France in 1917 and suffered severely from the infamous influenza epidemic. His medical chart in his service record details the prevailing treatment for influenza. RTA Ypiringa November 1919 and discharged 5 March 1920. In later years he resided at 70 Stirling Hwy. Cottesloe. Service medals: 1914-1915 Star, BWM and VM.
