Born at Glasgow Scotland, Presbyterian. Enlisted 18 November 1915 age 32, pattern maker. Nok wife, Susan Brown of Keane St, Cottesloe Beach and in 1919 at Monument St, Mosman Park. Embarked at Fremantle 31 March 1916 per A9 Shropshire. Awarded a Military Medal for bravery in the field 28 September 1917. The citation, published in the 9th military supplement No. 30312 to the London Gazette 25 September 1917 and promulgated in Commonwealth of Australia Gazette No 9 24 January 1918. ‘His Majesty the King has been graciously pleased to award the Military Medal for bravery in the Field to No. 9832 Corporal G.L.
