Born at Youngla, Sth Aust. Enlisted May 8 1915 age 28, teamster. Nok was a friend, Connor Smith of Beverly. Embarked at Fremantle 22 November 1915 per RMS Mongolia. Served in the Middle East, France and Belgium. Seriously wounded when a bomb accidently exploded in Belgium. RTA January 1919 with severe bronchitis and classed as permanently unfit and placed in the Stromness Hospital for mentally ill soldiers where he died in 1922. Service medals:1914-1915 Star, BWM and VM. Stromness No 24 Auxiliary Hospital, was a large house on the corner of Monument and St, Leonard Streets, Mosman Park. Stromness was demolished in the 1960’s and replaced by Stromness Apartments.
