Born at Luton, Bedfordshire, England, CoE. Enlisted 16 December 1915 age 23, bricklayer. Nok father, Alfred Chapman of 159 Park St. Luton, Bedfordshire, England and gave his own address as Waverly, Forrest St, Cottesloe. Embarked at Sydney on 31 March 1916 per A16 Star of Victoria. Wounded in France on 23 November 1916. Invalided due to illness and RTA January 1918 per Port Darwin. Service medals: 1914-1915 Star, BWM and VM.
