Born at Fremantle, WA, Methodist. Enlisted in Adelaide on 1 June 1916, age 20, clerk. Nok mother, Mrs Elizabeth May Cottle of Perth-Fremantle Rd, Cottesloe. Embarked at Melbourne on 20 October 1916 per A17 Port Lincoln. Wounded in the buttocks in France on 18 September 1918. RTA July 1919 and discharged 4MD 25 September 1919. Service medals: BWM and VM.
