Born at St Kilda, Victoria, CoE. Enlisted 17 August 1914 age 19, warehouse assistant. Nok wife, Elizabeth Jessie Coupland of Queen’s Crescent, Mt Lawley. Embarked at Fremantle 2 October 1914 per A7 Medic. Wounded in the thigh on 25 July 1915 at Gallipoli and hospitalised at Malta. Served in Egypt 1916, France 1916-17. Wounded in the left leg in France on 7 June 1917. RTA 21 December 1917 suffering trench fever and debility first diagnosed at Gallipoli. Discharged 12 March 1918. Service medals: 1914-1915 Star, BWM and VM. Cottesloe and district Honour Rolls.
