Born Queenscliff Victoria, CoE. Enlisted 17 September 1914 age 22, farmer. Nok father, Gordon Campbell Curlewis who farmed at Brookton and had a residence at Lillian St, Cottesloe. Embarked at Melbourne 22 December 1914 A40 Ceramic. At Gallipoli, on 1 August 1915, he suffered wounds to his back and face and was evacuated to Egypt where he died on 15 August. Buried at Alexandria; Chatby Military War Cemetery Egypt Plot N Grave 524. Service medals: 1914-15 Star, BWM, and VM.
