Born at Norseman WA, CoE. Enlisted 11 June 1916 age 18, apprentice engineer. Nok father, Hercules Benjamin Curwood, originally of PO Golden Ridge Gold Mine, Kalgoorlie, later at Stuart St, Cottesloe then Laverton. Embarked at Fremantle 10 October 1916 per A23 Suffolk. Served in France 1916-1918. RTA July 1919 and discharged 1 October 1918. Service Medals BWM, and VM.
