Born at Balmain Sydney CoE. Enlisted 7 January 1916 age 18, plasterer apprenticed to T. Peterson of Cottesloe Beach. Nok father, James Davenport of Keane St, Cottesloe Beach. Embarked at Fremantle 6 June 1916 per A29 Suevic, Embarked on 6 June 1916 and served In France from September 1916. He was gassed on 13 March 1918 invalided to England and RTA per Soudan May 1919. Service medals: BWM and VM. In 1918 his mother was at Lawley Cottage, Gibney St, Cottesloe Beach.
