Born at Larkhead Glasgow, Scotland Presbyterian. Enlisted 15 March 1915 age 28, grocer. Nok wife, Mary Deery Albert St, Cottesloe Beach. Embarked at Fremantle 29 June 1915 per A11 Ascanius. Wounded in action in France 29 July 1916. Transferred to No. 4 Machine Gun Coy. Missing in action on 11 April 1917 and reported as a prisoner of war. He was captured at Rein Court and interned at Limburg. Repatriated to England on 18 December 1918. RTA per A14 Euripides March 1919. Service medals:1914-1915 Star, BWM and VM.
