Born at Fremantle, Presbyterian. Enlisted 3 February 1916 age 35, sail maker. Nok wife, Nellie Doust, Horgan St, Mosman Park. Pre-war he served two years in South Africa with Scottish Horse. Embarked at Fremantle 1 June 1916 per Hospital Ship A69 Warilda. In France he was wounded by gas on 20 July 1917. RTA A64 Demosthenes in January 1919. Discharged 5 September 1919. Service medals: BWM and VM.
