Born at Yorkshire, England, CoE. Enlisted 16 July 1916 age 35, painter and paperhanger. Nok wife, Bertha Florence Drewery of 133 Crawford Rd, Maylands, later c/o Mrs Johnson, York St, Maylands. Embarked at Fremantle 9 November 1916 per Argyllshire. Served in France 1917-1918 and was wounded with shell and gas burns on 3 October 1917. RTA June 1919 per Somali. A 1919 summary of the treatment used in treating gas wounding is addressed to Mr H. L. Drewery of 106 Park St, Subiaco. His service medals, BWM and VM, were sent to London in 1938. This is the only Drewery H. L. found in the Australian National Archives. Cottesloe and district Honour Rolls.
