Born at Cottesloe, Congregational. Enlisted 3 April 1916 age 18, apprentice fitter. Nok father, Albert Ellis of 8 Gill St, Cottesloe Beach. Embarked 6 October 1916. In March 1947 Ellis resided with wife, Charlotte, at 6 Glyde St, Mosman Park. Not eligible for medals.
