Born at Horsham, Sussex England, CoE. Enlisted 18 October 1916, age 28 years 4 months, farmhand. Nok father, Albert Gander of Midland Junction and a sister Miss B. Gander at Brookton and after the war, his parents, Albert and Jane Gander at Burt St, Cottesloe. Embarked at Melbourne 23 November 1916 per A20 Hororata. RTA May 1917 and discharged on medical grounds 6 August 1917. On 4 June and 14 September 1918 he completed new enlistment forms; both were rejected. On the final form, his father’s address was Burt St, Cottesloe. Service medals BWM and VM.
