Born at Paddockwood, Kent, England, CoE. Enlisted 21 January 1916 age 19, labourer. Nok father, Albert Gander, then at Imperial Coffee Palace, Midland Junction, later his parents, Albert and Jane Gander lived at Burt St, Cottesloe. WA. Embarked 6 June 1916 from Fremantle per A29 Suevic. Twice wounded in action in France, on 16 February 1917 and 8 June 1917.
