Born 13 February 1891 and signed on to the Royal Australian Navy in 1908. His next of kin were his parents, Albert and Jane Gander of Burt St, Cottesloe. On HMS Vanguard, he saw action off Heilgoland, Dogger Bank and at Jutland. He was blown to bits by an exploding shell on 14th July 1917 while the ship was at anchor. Memorialised at Chatham Naval Memorial, England. Service medals:1914-1915 Star, VM and BWM.
