Born at Claremont, WA, Methodist. Enlisted 28 June 1915 age 19, clerk/accountant. Nok parents, James and Matilda Hammond of Graylands St, Claremont. Embarked at Fremantle 2 September 1915 per A68 Anchises. Served at Gallipoli in 1915, and killed in action in France 27-29 August 1916 (possibly at Poziers). Memorialised on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial. Service medals: 1914-1915 Star, BWM and VM. He was the brother of W. G. R Hammond 10th Light Horse Regiment and L. J. H Hammond 10th Light Horse Regiment.
