Born Melbourne, CoE. Enlisted 18 August 1915 age 26, pearler. Nok father, Henry Horace Holmes, Onslow Shenton Rd, Claremont. Embarked at Fremantle 2 November 1915 per A38 Ulysses. Transferred from 28th to 51st Battalion on 3 April 1916. Served in France and was withdrawn from action on 7 August 1917. RTA February 1919 per A68 Anchises. Service medals: 1914-1915 Star, BWM and VM.
