Born at Northam, WA, Presbyterian. Enlisted at Perth 1 September 1916 age 18, apprenticed to James Kelly Bakery at Cottesloe. Nok parents, Donald Hugh and Katherine Masson residing on the corner of Palmerston St, and Glyde St, Cottesloe Beach. Frederick’s address at time of enlistment was Kenny St, Cottesloe. Embarked at Fremantle per A8 Argyllshire 9 November 1916. Killed in action in France on 1 June 1917. Buried in Franvillers Communal Cemetery Extension, France, 3.75 miles North of Corbie. Service medals: BWM and VM.
