Born at Melbourne, Victoria, RC. Enlisted 7 September 1914 age 27, mining trade. Nok wife, Hylda McCarrey, Cottesloe Beach. Embarked at Melbourne 22 December 1914 per A40 Ceramic. Landed at Gallipoli in April 1915. As with many at Gallipoli, he suffered severe dysentery and rheumatism and was placed on light duties until declared permanently unfit for duty. RTA per A70 Ballarat July 1915, hospitalised in Melbourne and discharged medically unfit on 31 December 1915. Service medal entitlement is not shown on his service sheet but he should be entitled to 1914-1915 Star, BWM and VM.
