Born Inverness, Scotland, Presbyterian. Enlisted 8 March 1915 age 41, labourer. Nok originally his father in Scotland but changed to his wife, Daisy McDonald of 194 South Tce, Fremantle. Embarked at Fremantle 25 June 1915 per A62 Wandilla. Fought at Gallipoli in 1915, in France 1917-1918 where he was wounded 5 June 1917. RTA April 1919 per A74 Marathon. Some correspondence regarding this soldier was addressed to Mr J. McDonald of Brindon, Cottesloe Beach. Citation for his Military Medal awarded 22 June 1917: ‘for …bravery in the field.’ Commonwealth of Australia Gazette No. 219 of 20 December 1917.
