Born in Glasgow Scotland, Presbyterian. Enlisted 19 July 1917 age 18, farmhand. Nok father, James McEwan at the corner of Keane and Bond Sts. Cottesloe Beach. This was also Peter’s permanent address. His parents James and Annie signed a permission form to allow him to enlist with the proviso that he not embark for overseas service before the age of 19. He embarked at Melbourne on 30 October 1917 per A60 Aeneas and was serving in France in August 1918. In July 1919 he was granted three months leave to train as an engineer with G. Allen & Co. Electrical Engineers 99 Smithfield Belfast. Service medals: BWM and VM.
