McGilvray, William Joseph

Born at Port Augusta Sth Aust. CoE.  Enlisted 18 August 1914 age 27, insurance agent.  Gave his address as 2 Sydney St, Collingwood and Nok [relationship not specified], Archibald D. McGilvray of Rose St, Mile End, Sth Aust.  Embarked at Melbourne on 21 October 1914 per Orvieto.  Served at Gallipoli where, between 8-12 May 1915, he was wounded to the chest and right side of his ear causing deafness.  Mentioned in despatches for acts of conspicuous gallantry or valuable service at Gallipoli in the period April 25-May 5.  Promulgated in Australian Military Orders No 570 or 1915.  RTA October 1915 per Suevic. Service medals and award: MID, 1914-1915 Star, BWM and VM. He died in 1951. Cottesloe and district Honour Rolls.
