Born at Yorkshire, England, CoE. Enlisted 9 August 1915 age 21, farm hand. Nok father, John Richard Miles of Yorkshire, England. Embarked at Fremantle 1 November 1915 per A24 Benalla. Wounded three times in France; first to the left ear on 30 August 1916, second 11 April 1917 and the third was a gunshot wound to his thigh on 18 September 1918. Diagnosed with tuberculosis and RTA in December 1918 per Takada. Service medals: 1914-1915 Star, BWM and VM. Cottesloe and district Honour Rolls.
