Born in Sth Aust. RC. Enlisted 9 July 1916, age 44, carter. He gave Vaucluse St, Claremont as his postal address and Nok a friend, John Gawent/Gaunt/Gamit, Foreman of Fremantle Railway Station/Yard, Fremantle. Embarked at Fremantle 9 November 1916 per A8 Argyllshire. Served in France and in Belgium where, on 20 September 1917, he was gas wounded. RTA February 1918 per Balmoral Castle for discharge. Service medals: BWM and VM.
