Born at Bendigo, Victoria, RC. Enlisted 10 September 1914, age 33, labourer. Nok wife, Alice Gertrude Murphy of Gray’s Cottage off Adelaide St, Fremantle (she later moved to Victoria). The official embarkation roll has him embarking at Fremantle 8 February 1915 per A47 Mashobra but his war service records adds Fremantle 22 December 1914 per Zealandic. He was killed in action at Gallipoli 9 May 1915 by a piece of shrapnel through his head. He was buried at Beach Cemetery, Anzac 1. E. 2. Service medals: 1914-1915 Star, BWM and VM. Cottesloe and district Honour Rolls.
